Why Gas Ducted Heating & How Does It Work?
Gas ducted heating (central heating) is the most commonly used form of heating throughout our homes. Not only Is it the most effective way of keeping you warm over those cold winter nights, it is also the most cost effective. This form of heating aims to heat the whole of the house unlike ‘space heaters’ and ‘split systems’ which target a single room/area.
As the heater motor draws cold air in, it passes through a heat exchanger which warms the air to the desired temperature. The heat exchange is ignited by either LPG or Natural Gas and is usually installed within a roof cavity or under a house. Once the air is heated it will then pass through connecting ducts which lead to multiple vents throughout the house. This is a continues cycle until the thermostat has reached the houses desired temperature.
Gas Ducted Heating
Efficiencies Gas ducted heating furnaces are required to be energy performance tested and hold a gas energy rating level which will show its efficiency on a scale of 1 to 6 stars.
- Standard Efficiency - natural combustion process 1 to 2
- STARS Mid Efficiency - fan assisted combustion process 3 to 4
- STARS High Efficiency - fan assisted combustion with condensing heat exchanger 5 to 6 STARS
